JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility is to provide technical support for the Project Sales Consultants. Duties include assisting the PSC in creating customized cost-effective building designs, developing customer-focused presentations, and preparing accurate estimated construction costs. This position is located in Remington, IN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the PSC in creating customized cost-effective building design by
- Researching industry standards to learn and establish design criteria
- Brainstorming alternative designs that may reduce cost and/or improve functionality
- Suggesting alternative designs
- Assist the PSC in developing customer-focused presentations by
- Drawing site plans, floor plans, elevations, cross-sections, and/or 3-D drawings to effectively communicate building design. Typical drawing tools include Visio, CAD, and Sketch-Up.
- Preparing building specifications to effectively communicate building design
- Assist the PSC in preparing accurate estimated construction costs by
- Designing trusses, headers, columns, foundation, and diaphragm requirements to determine associated costs
- Estimating material, construction labor, equipment, freight, design, and other miscellaneous costs involved with constructing wood frame buildings.
- Understanding various building codes, including but not limited to, IBC, IRC, IFC, ASCE-7, & Indiana Building code, and performing code reviews on building projects to ensure code compliance.
- Identify potential job site risks for both employees, and the company, and develop solutions to mitigate risky situations.
- Assist the sales effort in general by
- Performing post job reviews to determine what worked and what didn’t
- Educating PSCs in effective use of drawing and pricing tools.
- Coaching effective use of the sales process
- Developing and maintaining computerized pricing and reporting programs
- Providing on-site sales assistance as needed
- Providing pricing and cost breakdowns for change orders
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Construction Management or Technology, or
- Associates degree in related field with 3-4 years experience in a similar position
Must be a quick learner, problem solver, organized, flexible to adjust daily priorities, and be able to communicate effectively and with authority to gain the trust of construction personnel. Must be clean, neat, personable, and an effective team player with a heart to do what it takes to Do Right, On Time, With Excellence!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A sedentary position requiring the ability to read contract documents, construction drawings, and operate a computer.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
This position reports directly to the Estimating Manager.
